Continuing his artistic exploration of modern organic design, Greg Natale joined Serafini last week at the opening event of their brand-new showroom in Milan for the cities annual design fair. Following the 2023 debut of the Onda Table and the release of the Onda Bowls earlier this year, Natale worked with the Italian stone artisans at Serafini to select Paonazzo and Nero Pagoda. When layered against one another, the contrasting stones produce an elegant visual effect that dramatises the juxtaposition between the fluid undulations and heavy lines of the design.

The Onda Console is a nuanced design featuring a wave-like shape from multiple perspectives. Each of the console legs presents an alternative interpretation of the undulated Onda design; one side is a solid column carved from a single block of stone, while the other offers a layered, two-dimensional view of the fluid pattern. From above, the scalloped-edge Onda design in Paonazza breaches to sit within the mirrored bullnose Pagoda top. The sense of mutability in Natale’s design amplifies the raw beauty in marble, creating the illusion of motion within solid stone.
