Located on the Upper East Side, Greg Natale’s New York House is as evocatively colourful and richly layered as the city itself. What was previously a mixed commercial and residential building is now a four-story townhouse designed in tribute to its owner’s global inspirations and artistic passions. To enhance the stately presence of the red-brick façade—a hallmark of classic New York real estate—Greg Natale reinstated the original two-door entrance in a return to authenticity. Inside, he executes a fashionable approach to interior design inspired by the owner’s deep connection to Italy and Paris. The living room houses a curated mix of collectable vintage and 20th-century design pieces layered with artful, custom finishes. One such statement piece is the pendant light commissioned from Crizu, hand-made from paper flower bouquets, a delicate counterpoint to the home’s bold materiality.
Marble plays a defining role throughout, sourced directly from Italy and installed with exacting craftsmanship by Italian stonemasons flown in for the project. The clients, who spend half their year in Italy, sought to bring an element of their second home into this space—a love letter to Italian artistry. Following a brief of a predominantly pink and green palette, Greg channels the owner’s love of Paris’s maximalist interiors, layering sophisticated colours and complex tones from wall to wall. Further underscoring the home’s creative ethos, the ground floor is a dedicated art school where art and design come to life in equal measure.
